Cost benefits using the Pain-Nociceptive Sensor in the operating theatres

Anesthesiologist Henrik Øhrstrøm, MD, Örebro University Hospital, recently used the Pain-Nociceptive Senor Index on patients undergoing general anesthesia as part of ongoing quality improvement work on drug dosing during anesthesia. His team found that they were able to reduce opioid consumption and that postoperative time was shortened by 76 minutes, from 209 minutes to 133 minutes (p<0.001).
